[SPOILER ALERT: Read on only if you have already watched Wednesday’s episode of Survivor: Kaôh Rōng.]
Memo to all future Survivor players: Never ever fall for the illusion that going to Tribal Council is a good thing. For while you may deem it an advantage to get rid of someone else in your tribe, you can also end up being the one voted out. Liz Markham became the latest player to discover this when she called a Brains tribe visit to see Jeff Probst a “blessing in disguise,” only to later find herself being the one having her torch snuffed.
The blindside occurred after cocky Peter and Liz bragged about being in control of the tribe only to have the other four Brains members revolt and turn against them for their condescending behavior. Debbie masterminded the turn-around and proved she is more than just a kooky character there for comic relief.
In other news, Jason obtained the Brawn tribe idol after Alecia and Cydney found the first two parts in the series of clues, while Tai finally recovered the Beauty idol. Tai had a very emotional moment, as well; the all-creature-loving contestant had to come to terms with feeling a chicken’s life draining of out its body while he held it as it was being killed for dinner.
The Brawn tribe also managed to finally not lose a challenge — barely — in a nifty contest that had the teams transport bags of rice through obstacles from water to land before maneuvering a ball through a maze of holes. It was after that Brains defeat that Liz called the loss a “blessing in a disguise,” only to find her blessing morph into a nightmare.
My full recap will be up at midnight, and you can follow me on Twitter @DaltonRoss for more updates. In the meantime, check out the exclusive deleted scene from last week’s episode above, and hit the message boards to weigh in with your thoughts. Did Brains vote out the right person? Did we all underestimate Debbie? And who has the clearest path to victory so far? Have at it!
